Season Opener Looms
The Red Foxes are set to open the 2025 season on Friday, hosting New Haven in a matchup that will be streamed live on NEC Front Row. The game represents the first time the program has played on Connecticut soil since September 2016, adding a geographic milestone to an already historic occasion.
Marist enters the contest with a roster that boasts 108 players, including 66 returners and 42 newcomers, among them freshmen and transfers from a program‑record 21 states. The team will field three captains — Sonny Mannino, Kade Werner and Lincoln Cardillo — who were recognized earlier in the preseason for their leadership.
The broadcast will feature Geoff Brault and Steve Eggink on play‑by‑play, while analyst J.W. Stewart joins Emory Hunt in the booth. A pre‑game show begins at 5:45 p.m., and live updates will be posted on the Marist Football X account under @Marist_FBall.
Historically, this will be only the second meeting between Marist and New Haven, and it comes as New Haven begins its inaugural Division I season after finishing 5‑5 last year. A victory would give the Red Foxes back‑to‑back season‑opening wins for the second straight year.
Among the storylines, former NFL kicker Jason Myers, a Super Bowl champion and record‑holder for points scored, will be highlighted as a notable alumnus, while 2025 graduate Connor Hulstein, now on the New York Jets roster, adds another professional connection.
