Mark Few, the longtime Gonzaga Bulldogs coach, has been appointed as one of three assistant coaches for the United States men's national basketball team, working under head coach Erik Spoelstra.
Few brings a deep reservoir of international experience, having served as an assistant for the 2023 FIBA World Cup and a key member of the coaching staff that captured gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the team rallied from a 17‑point deficit to defeat Serbia in the semifinals and France in the final.
A Legacy of International Success
The upcoming schedule includes the 2027 FIBA World Cup, to be staged in Los Angeles, and the 2028 Summer Olympics, also set in the city, giving Few a chance to add another chapter to his storied involvement with USA Basketball.
Spoelstra praised Few's basketball acumen and the long‑standing relationship that has seen them collaborate across multiple USA Basketball camps, from the 2018 National Team minicamp to the 2019 and 2021 Select Teams.
Few's induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame will be officially celebrated next month, capping a career that includes a gold‑medal‑winning Pan American team in 2015 and numerous youth‑level championships.
Off the court, Few's son, AJ Few, joined the Miami Heat's NBA Summer League staff in 2025, continuing a family connection to the franchise.
There is also speculation that former Gonzaga standout Chet Holmgren, an NBA All‑Star center, could be a candidate for the 2028 Olympic roster, adding another layer of intrigue to the team's composition.
