A Camp That Echoes His Roots
Mark Sears returned to the place where his basketball story began, hosting his second annual camp in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The event welcomed boys and girls from ages five to eighteen, offering drills, mentorship and a chance to learn from a player who has walked the path from small‑town courts to professional leagues.
Sears’ own journey started on the hardwoods of Muscle Shoals Middle School, where he first displayed a knack for scoring, and continued through three standout seasons at Muscle Shoals High School before heading north to Ohio University.
From Small Town to Final Four
At Ohio, he blossomed into a prolific scorer, netting 884 points over two seasons and earning a suite of accolades that put him on the radar of major programs. His success earned a transfer to the University of Alabama, where he helped the Crimson Tide break new ground, culminating in the school’s first Final Four appearance in decades.
After college, Sears signed a two‑way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks and appeared in seven NBA games. Though the stint was brief, it was followed by a stint with the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks’ G‑League affiliate, before he was waived in January and later joined the Denver Nuggets for the 2026 Las Vegas Summer League.
Now based with the Portland Trail Blazers’ G‑League team, the Rip City Remix, Sears is focused on a singular objective: stringing together longer stretches of consistent performance. He sees his camp as a way to give back to the community that first cheered him on, while also sharpening the skills that could earn him another NBA opportunity.
