Seton LaSalle High School in Pittsburgh has named Mark Walsh as its new head coach for the boys basketball team, slated to begin the 2026‑27 campaign.
A Familiar Face Returns
Walsh, a 1986 graduate of the school, previously guided the program for 13 seasons, compiling a streak of playoff appearances each year and capturing seven section titles, a WPIAL championship and a PIAA runner‑up finish.
Beyond the X’s and O’s, he is celebrated for his emphasis on mentorship, often describing basketball as a vehicle for character development and academic achievement, and for guiding dozens of student‑athletes to NCAA Division I, II and III programs.
The coach and his wife Carrie reside in Brookline, where their four children all graduated from Seton LaSalle, reinforcing a family commitment to the school community.
His return follows a two‑year absence in which the team posted a 4‑11 record and a 20‑8 mark, results that athletic director said underscore both the challenge ahead and the confidence placed in Walsh’s ability to rebuild.
