Born into a basketball‑rich household, Martinez is the son of Marlon Martinez Sr., a celebrated Dominican national team player known in his homeland as “El Rey.” Growing up in the Dominican Republic before moving to the United States, he honed his game on outdoor courts and quickly rose through the ranks.
Martinez showcased his shooting prowess at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup in June, averaging 19 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 48.1% from three‑point range and converting 88.5% of his free throws.
