Marshall University’s men’s basketball program has announced the addition of Bosnian forward Visilije Kuridza, a transfer from Tulane University, as the latest piece in its effort to reshape the frontcourt.
International Experience Meets Local Ambition
Kuridza, a 6‑foot‑9 prospect, spent three seasons with the Bosnia U‑18 National Team, where he averaged 7.1 points and 4.5 rebounds across 22 games. His résumé also includes stints with KK Igokea in the Bosnian League and the ABA League, as well as a brief appearance with the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2023 Europe Basketball Without Borders camp, a joint initiative of the NBA and FIBA.
The move coincides with the arrival of former Tulane teammate Luke Rasmussen, who transferred to Marshall earlier this offseason, adding depth and familiarity to the roster.
Hall of Fame Celebrates a Legendary Cohort
In the fall, the university will induct nine new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame, a class that includes some of the program’s most prolific scorers. Jon Elmore, now second on the all‑time men’s basketball scoring list with 2,638 points, will be joined by Shayna Gore, who ranks third on the women’s scoring chart and holds the program record for three‑pointers with 303.
Morgan Zerkle, the current softball head coach and a three‑time Academic All‑American, will also be honored after a standout collegiate career that saw her earn second‑team All‑American, Conference USA Athlete of the Year and multiple first‑team all‑conference selections.
The induction ceremony is slated for the weekend of September 12, when Marshall hosts Middle Tennessee State in its football home opener, providing a high‑profile backdrop for the celebration.
Other members of the class include former football standouts Mario Harvey and Cody Slate, volleyball alumna Kellie Beckelheimer‑Wood, golfers Christian Brand and Michaela Kissell, and the late track and field coach Otto “Swede” Gullickson, remembered for his dual impact on cross‑country and track programs.
A Look Ahead
With Kuridza’s international background and the Hall of Fame’s recognition of past legends, Marshall’s athletic department signals a blend of fresh talent and reverence for heritage as it heads into the new competitive season.
