Coach Rafa Simoes Returns for Third Season
Coach Rafa Simoes, who previously guided the university's men's program, begins his third year at the helm of the women's squad, bringing a fresh tactical outlook and a commitment to developing the team's depth.
The roster showcases a truly global mix, with players hailing from 16 different countries, a record for the program that underscores the growing reach of Marshall soccer.
Among them, Argentine forward Delfina Lombardi shone in a recent practice, netting all three goals and adding two assists, while Brazilian midfielder Luana Gusmao provided the decisive passes that set up those strikes.
Goalkeeper Emma Durand also made a notable impact, saving a penalty kick in the same session and recording her first successful stop since October 2021, a sign of growing confidence between the posts.
Bobcats' Recent Momentum
The Ohio Bobcats entered the weekend with a 2‑1 victory over UIC, where Meaghan Cochrane scored both goals, including the game‑winner in the 81st minute, and earned Coach Aaron Rodgers his 100th career win after 14 seasons at the helm.
