Martyce Kimbrough returned to his hometown of Lima, Ohio, this summer to run the eighth edition of his youth basketball camp, drawing roughly 130 elementary and junior‑high students for three days of drills, scrimmages and mentorship.
A 2015 graduate of Lima Central Catholic and a former standout at the University of Findlay, Kimbrough recently capped a professional season in Poland’s top league with a championship, leading his club in three‑point shooting and cementing his reputation as a sharpshooter.
More Than a Game
Kimbrough told campers that basketball is a vehicle for life lessons, emphasizing that the discipline, teamwork and resilience learned on the floor will serve them long after the final buzzer.
The curriculum blended skill work with discussions about goal‑setting, handling pressure and identifying personal strengths and weaknesses, mirroring the approach Kimbrough himself used when he attended similar camps as a teenager.
Parents and local coaches praised the camp’s dual focus on athletic development and character building, noting that the experience has sparked renewed interest in basketball across the region.
