Cal Poly Pomona announced this week that Mason Holle will join its men's basketball program as an assistant coach, bringing a decade of experience from a standout tenure at Cal State LA.
During his ten years with the Golden Eagles, Holle helped transform the team into a perennial contender in NCAA Division II, culminating in a historic 2023‑24 season that saw the program capture a conference tournament title, earn a No. 1 seed in the West Regional and finish the year ranked No. 17 in the NABC poll.
A Proven Track Record
The 2023‑24 campaign was marked by a program‑record 24 victories, a dominant run through the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament, and the distinction of hosting the NCAA Division II West Regional. Holle’s contributions spanned recruiting, player development, scouting and overall program operations, roles he is expected to replicate at Cal Poly Pomona.
Holle’s coaching journey began at La Cañada High School before he pursued graduate studies in sociology at Cal State LA, where he earned a master’s degree in 2021. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Birmingham‑Southern College and has been recognized for his ability to blend analytical insight with player‑focused development.
Greg Kamansky, the head coach of the Broncos, highlighted Holle’s blend of experience and strategic acumen, stating that his arrival aligns with the program’s ambition to compete at the highest level of Division II competition. The addition of Holle is seen as a pivotal step in strengthening the team’s depth and future prospects.
