Gannon University announced this week that Matt Evans will join the Golden Knights football program as the new wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator, bringing a decade of collegiate experience to the role.
Evans arrives after a varied coaching career that spans NCAA Division II and III programs, including stints as quarterbacks coach at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, and as wide receivers and quarterbacks coach at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont.
A Proven Track Record of Offensive Innovation
At Rose‑Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, he served as both special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach, helping the Engineers capture conference titles in total offense, passing offense, and scoring offense during the 2021 season.
During his tenure at Rose‑Hulman, Evans helped develop standout talents such as HCAC Offensive Player of the Year Noah Thomas and Special Teams Player of the Year Jailen Hobbs, underscoring his ability to elevate player performance.
His coaching journey also includes two seasons as an offensive graduate assistant at Walsh University and an early role as assistant director of football operations and specialists coach at Ohio Dominican University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Industry from The Ohio State University in 2014.

The university hopes Evans’s expertise will translate into stronger recruiting pipelines and more dynamic play on the field, as the program seeks to build on recent successes and contend for conference honors.
