Matt Kelley has been appointed head coach of the Central Catholic High School girls basketball team, succeeding Debbie Coffman, who retired after 28 seasons of leadership.
A familiar face returns to lead the program
A 2000 graduate of Central Catholic, Kelley returns after two decades of coaching at various levels, having guided multiple teams to sectional championships and earning Coach of the Year honors in 2014 and 2023.
Nate Thomas, the school's Athletic Director, emphasized that Kelley's extensive experience and his personal ties to the institution were decisive factors in the hiring decision, noting that the program is poised for continued growth under his guidance.
The appointment has been welcomed by players, parents, and alumni alike, who anticipate that Kelley's deep understanding of the school's culture and his proven track record will help maintain the program's competitive edge in the coming seasons.
