Matt Miller Named New Men’s Basketball Coach at Lebanon Valley College

Former assistant at multiple Division I programs takes the helm as the program's 25th head coach

Matt Miller has been appointed as the new men’s head basketball coach at Lebanon Valley College, becoming the program’s 25th head coach. The college announced the hire this week, highlighting his extensive background in developing competitive teams.

A Strategic Choice for the Valiants

Miller arrives after stints as an assistant at the University of New Hampshire, a season at Loyola University (Md.) and five years at Mount St. Mary’s University, where he helped shepherd the program to its best finish in two decades.

A graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, he earned dual majors in economics and public policy and later completed a Master of Education in English for Speakers of Other Languages in 2008.

His early coaching career includes leading St. Maria Goretti High School to a 100‑42 record and capturing a Baltimore Catholic League regular‑season title, followed by three consecutive division championships at Winston Churchill High School.

Beyond the court, Miller is known for fostering strong team cultures and emphasizing academic excellence, a philosophy that aligns with the college’s liberal‑arts mission.

Athletic Director Patrick Ratke indicated that the hire reflects a commitment to continuity and growth, noting Miller’s proven ability to build winning programs while mentoring student‑athletes.

The Valiants look to build on recent successes and contend for conference titles under Miller’s leadership, with an eye toward recruiting student‑athletes who excel both on the hardwood and in the classroom.
