Matthew Slater, a three‑time Super Bowl‑winning special teams standout for the New England Patriots, has taken on a new challenge off the field by joining Boston College High School as Assistant Head Coach for Leadership and Player Development.
A New Era of Leadership
During his 16‑year NFL career, Slater captured three Super Bowl titles, earned ten Pro Bowl selections and served as a team captain for 13 consecutive seasons. His reputation for discipline, work ethic and mentorship preceded him, making his transition to coaching a natural next step.
In his new position, Slater will mentor players across all levels of the football program, shape the team's culture and expand opportunities for student‑athletes. He will be present at varsity games, practices, camps, clinics and selected program events to help build a sustainable pipeline of talent.
Slater expressed excitement about working with BC High, emphasizing the school's commitment to developing young men of character. "I’m thrilled to join a program that values leadership as much as athletic achievement," he said, highlighting his focus on personal growth alongside football development.
His first official appearance with the Eagles will be at a football camp beginning on August 17 at Boston College High School, where he will interact directly with players and coaches to instill the principles that defined his own career.
