A Boost for Local Youth Sports
The County of Maui received 200 complimentary soccer balls from FWC2026 US Inc., a FIFA World Cup outreach initiative. The size‑4 balls, designed for children aged six to twelve, are intended for use in the PALS program, which serves youth between five and twelve years old.
DPR Director Patrick McCall praised the contribution, highlighting how the equipment aligns with the county’s effort to provide accessible sports opportunities. Recreation Specialist Ryan Min observed the children’s visible excitement upon receiving the new balls.
Mayor Richard Bissen had been briefed about the potential donation in May, and the Maui County Council formally approved the gift on May 29, 2026, ensuring the balls arrived before the program’s concluding week on July 24, 2026.
