A Powerful Addition to the Ole Miss Rotation
Mavrick Rizy has officially joined the Ole Miss Rebels after navigating the transfer portal, bringing a rare combination of size and arm strength to the program. The move follows a standout collegiate career at LSU, where he contributed to a national championship-winning squad in 2025.
Standing 6‑9 and weighing 251 pounds, Rizy is one of the most imposing figures on the mound. His physical presence allows him to generate a steep downhill plane on his fastball, often resulting in higher velocity and more movement than typical relievers.
During his two seasons with LSU, Rizy logged 44 appearances, striking out 57 batters while maintaining a 4.50 career ERA. In 2025 he posted a 4.22 ERA over 21.1 innings, ranking No. 36 among Freshmen in the Perfect Game Top 75 and earning recognition as the top player from Massachusetts before college.
Coaches expect the Rebels to benefit immediately from his experience in high‑pressure NCAA tournament games and his familiarity with the SEC’s competitive landscape. Rizy is projected to compete for a weekend starter role, potentially reshaping the team’s bullpen dynamics.
