Maxine Moore Joins Ferris State Women’s Basketball Staff

Former Michigan staffer brings extensive coaching, recruiting and analytical experience to the Bulldogs

A new chapter for the Bulldogs

Maxine Moore, a seasoned coach with a decade of experience across Division I programs, has accepted a full‑time assistant coaching position with the Ferris State Bulldogs women’s basketball team. Her career includes roles as video coordinator at Oakland University and graduate assistant at the University of Michigan, where she specialized in recruiting, scouting and video analysis.

Moore’s coaching résumé also features a head‑coaching stint with the Michigan Storm Elite AAU team and a lead coaching role at the Detroit Pistons Academy. She has contributed to the sport beyond the bench, serving as a color commentator for the Michigan High School Athletic Association Girls Basketball State Championships and interning with the NBA’s New York Knicks and Herta Communications.

A former collegiate player at Western Michigan, Detroit Mercy and Wayne State, Moore earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a master’s in sports management. She was named to the GLIAC All‑Academic Excellence Team and led Detroit Country Day High School to three state championships, earning all‑state honors.

Her arrival coincides with a period of sustained success for the Bulldogs. Under head coach Kurt Westendorp, the program has reached the NCAA Division II Tournament four of the past five years, posting a school‑record tying 26 wins in the most recent season and advancing to the national semifinals two years ago.
