A New Chapter for a Familiar Face
Maya Brady, the starting center fielder for the Oklahoma City Spark in Athletes Unlimited Softball, has quickly become one of the league’s most talked‑about players in her second season.
Her ascent is rooted in a family steeped in athletics; her mother, Maureen Brady, starred as a pitcher at Fresno State in the 1990s, while her uncle, Tom Brady, is a seven‑time Super Bowl champion.
After honing her skills as a shortstop at UCLA, where she amassed 279 hits, 71 home runs and 246 RBI, Brady made a seamless switch to the outfield, taking a right‑foot step, a left‑foot step and a small hop to assume her ready position.
Early in the campaign she has posted a perfect fielding percentage, recording six putouts and an outfield assist, and she has hit over .500 in each of her first five starts, driving ten hits, eight runs and eight RBIs.
Statistically she tops the league in average (.556) and OPS (1.889), ranks second in slugging percentage (1.222) and is tied for first in walks (six), underscoring a blend of power and patience.
Next up, the Spark travel to Portland for a three‑game series against the Cascade, a matchup that will be streamed live on ESPN and ESPN2, giving fans a chance to watch Brady continue her dominant performance from center field.
