Maya Foz Takes the Next Step with Grand Canyon University

The freshman standout reunites with her sister Keana and aims to elevate her game under new coaching guidance

Maya Foz is poised to start a fresh chapter in college basketball as she joins the Grand Canyon University Lopes roster, reuniting with her sister Keana, who also serves as vice president of the Point Goddess nonprofit.

A Family Reunion in Phoenix

The move brings the Foz sisters back to the Southwest, where they will train together in Phoenix ahead of the upcoming season. Their shared history adds a personal dimension to the competitive environment at GCU.

At Bradley, Foz earned Missouri Valley Freshman of the Year honors and posted a 14.4‑point, 3.7‑rebound, 2.2‑assist, 1.4‑steal line across 34 appearances. She set a freshman free‑throw record with 121 makes and ranked second in program history for points scored by a freshman.

Head coach Winston Gandy praised her scoring ability and passion, noting that her energy lifts the entire squad. Gandy believes the Lopes have acquired a player who can immediately impact games and help the team climb the conference rankings.

Foz’s development was also shaped at Fort Erie International Academy, where coach Handel Kipp honed her toughness and confidence. The rigorous training regimen prepared her for the transition from high school to Division I.

Looking Ahead

The sisters plan to arrive in Phoenix in June for informal workouts with Gandy and the GCU staff. The upcoming sessions will serve as a laboratory where Foz can test new moves and cement her role as a key contributor to the Lopes’ ambitions.
