MBM Motorsports was hit with a 25‑point penalty after a safety violation was discovered during pre‑qualifying inspection at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. The sanction also stripped the team of an additional 14 points from the 2026 championship tally, a blow that drops their total to a negative fourteen.
Looking ahead to the season finale
The penalty stems from the No. 69 truck driven by Jonathan Shafer, who was unable to make the grid after repeated disqualifications. Shafer’s latest infraction marked his third disqualification in as many attempts this season and the team’s fifth overall, underscoring a pattern of trouble that dates back to the truck’s first appearance in the Craftsman Truck Series since 2016.
Across three actual starts this year, the team has managed only 11 points, earned through drivers Tyler Tomassi, Derek White and Dystany Spurlock. The truck’s provisional status was limited to the first three races, yet it returned for its ninth outing of the season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, a venue where 41 trucks will battle for just 36 spots.
Derek White, fresh off a DNF at St. Petersburg, is slated to attempt qualification, but the competition is fierce. The team has not yet confirmed participation in any of the seven postseason races, leaving its future in the playoffs uncertain. Meanwhile, the Team EJP 175 event at New Hampshire will be streamed live on Fox Sports 1 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
