A milestone in McNeese baseball
McNeese State University has secured the services of its baseball head coach Justin Hill through the 2029 season, announcing a four‑year contract extension that underscores the administration’s confidence in his vision.
Hill, who became the winningest coach in program history during the 2023 campaign, finishes his 13‑year tenure with a 396‑311 record that places him sixth all‑time in Southland Conference annals and a .560 winning percentage that ranks among the league’s top 20.
Under his guidance the Cowboys have captured three regular‑season championships, added tournament titles in 2019 and 2021, and earned berths to the NCAA Regionals in 2019 and 2021, while also notching eight victories over nationally ranked opponents, highlighted by a historic upset of No. 1 LSU in the most recent season.
Building on recent momentum
The extension comes at a time when the program is riding a wave of consistency, having qualified for the league tournament in each of Hill’s 13 seasons and posting 30‑plus wins in 11 of those years. Athletic director Bridget Martin praised Hill’s ability to develop talent and maintain a competitive edge, noting that the new agreement provides stability as the team aims to contend for further conference titles and deep NCAA runs.
