Meghan Trewhella to Lead Red Squad on Brazil Division III Basketball Tour

The Albion senior will compete in August matches and cultural outreach as part of a historic USA‑Brazil basketball exchange

A Milestone Tour

Meghan Trewhella, a rising senior at Albion College, has earned a spot on the Red squad that will represent the United States in the Division III Women’s Basketball Brazil Tour scheduled for August 4 through 13.

The itinerary includes four competitive matches against Brazilian clubs, with games set for August 5‑7 in São Paulo and a final contest in Rio de Janeiro on either the 9th, 10th or 11th. Beyond the court, the team will explore landmarks such as the Christ the Redeemer statue and the iconic Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Trewhella’s selection follows a standout season in which she amassed 541 points, averaging 20.0 per game, a school‑record total that secured her MIAA Most Valuable Player honors and a place on the D3hoops.com First Team All‑Region.

The Red squad, composed of ten athletes hailing from institutions including Chicago and DePauw — opponents the senior faced earlier in the year — will also engage in outreach activities with local youth teams, offering clinics and mentorship opportunities.

'Playing in Brazil is a dream come true,' Trewhella said, expressing enthusiasm about representing Albion’s women’s basketball program on an international stage and sharing her excitement for the cultural experience.
