Preseason Accolades
The Monmouth Hawks women's soccer team received a boost ahead of the new campaign when senior midfielder Chloe Messer and junior defender Grace Notarfrancesco were both named to the All-CAA Preseason squad, a distinction that underscores their impact on the program.
Messer, who earned her first career All-CAA honor, contributed three goals last season, including decisive game‑winning strikes in consecutive matches against Drexel and Hofstra. Notarfrancesco, a mainstay in the back line, started every game she played over the past two years, logging full 90‑minute performances in 14 contests and helping the defense record seven shutouts.
The team's offensive threats were further highlighted by honorable mentions for senior midfielder Emily De Almeida and forward Ashley Lavrich. De Almeida started all 18 games and also found the net three times, while Lavrich not only scored three goals but also dished out six assists, earning her the 2024 CAA Rookie of the Year award.
Monmouth finished second in the CAA North Division, trailing only Stony Brook, while Elon secured the South Division title as the defending champion. The preseason polls that determined these placements were compiled through votes from the league's 12 head coaches, with Towson's Kale'a Perry named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year.
