Miami Hurricanes surged into the semifinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament with an 8-2 victory over Boston College on Thursday night in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The win, secured at the Spectrum Center, was anchored by a dominant pitching display that shut out the Eagles for eight consecutive innings after an early two-run opening burst by Boston College.
Pitching mastery
Starter Lazaro Collera delivered five solid innings, allowing just two runs on three hits while walking three and striking out four. Relievers Kyle Wolff and Alex Sosa combined to retire all 12 batters they faced, fanning four and limiting Boston College to two hits in the final four frames.
Offensive fireworks
Miami’s bats erupted for 15 hits, highlighted by a two-run homer from Fabio Peralta in the second inning that capped a four-run burst. Gabriel Milano went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Peralta finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
The Hurricanes added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to stretch their lead, with Alex Sosa launching a two-run homer to left‑center in the fourth to punctuate the offense.
Boston College had taken a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Miami answered immediately with four runs in the second, turning the momentum decisively in its favor.
The bullpen’s scoreless stretch secured the 8-2 final, setting up a semifinal clash with Georgia Tech later this week.
