A Deep Roster Ahead of the 2026‑27 Season
Miami finished the previous campaign with a 26‑9 record, only to see its run end in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against Purdue. The experience gained from that run has set the stage for a more ambitious approach heading into the next year.
Among the returning core, Shelton Henderson stands out as one of the program’s most reliable scorers, having averaged 13.7 points and 4.9 rebounds last season. Guard Dante Allen, who contributed 6.6 points and 2.8 rebounds as a freshman, also returns, providing depth in the backcourt.
The team will also welcome back Marcus Allen, a Miami native who overcame a health setback to rejoin the squad. Allen’s high school pedigree includes a state title, and his presence adds local flavor and experience.
New additions promise to broaden the team’s tactical flexibility. Acaden Lewis, a Villanova transfer, arrives after a distinguished collegiate career that featured record‑setting assist and steal numbers. Somto Cyril, a Georgia transfer, brings a defensive presence that helped his former team lead the nation in dunks.
The roster also features Caleb Gaskins, a top‑rated recruit and McDonald’s All‑American, alongside transfers DeSean Goode, Nick Dorn, Brent Bland, Quin Berger and Egor Ryzhov, each bringing distinct skill sets that could reshape the team’s dynamics.
Freshman Christopher Birden Jr., who averaged nearly 17 points and eight rebounds in high school, joins the class, while L.J. Cason, a Michigan transfer, will sit out the season after an ACL injury, preserving his eligibility for future contributions.
