Michael Brown has announced his resignation as the head coach of the Hudson High School boys basketball program, ending a three‑year tenure that produced a 39‑34 overall record and two consecutive appearances in the Division II district finals.
A Sudden Departure
In a brief statement released on Tuesday, Brown said that the demanding schedule, combined with the health of his newborn child and his wife, made it impossible to continue in the role he has held since 2022. He expressed gratitude to the players, staff, and community for the support he received throughout his time at Hudson.
Brown’s coaching journey began at West Branch High School, where he compiled a 67‑win record and captured two conference titles before moving on to lead the Explorers. Prior to his coaching career, he played collegiately at Tiffin University, experiences that he says have shaped his approach to player development.
The team will lose standout seniors Nathan Judy and Jayden Carlton, but a core of rising seniors — Trent Smith, Hayden Lipinski, and Gavin Hitchcock — are expected to carry the program forward. Athletic director Mike Chuppa praised Brown’s contributions and said the school will begin a search for a successor who can build on the foundation he helped establish.
