Michael Emenalo is stepping down from his role as chief football executive of the Saudi Pro League after a three‑year stint that fundamentally altered the competition’s direction.
During his tenure he oversaw the league’s Player Acquisition Center of Excellence, attracted a wave of high‑profile players and pursued an aggressive policy to lower the average age of squads, aiming to modernise the product and broaden its appeal.
A Tenure Defined by Vision
In a statement released on Tuesday, Emenalo expressed deep gratitude to the league’s staff, clubs and supporters, highlighting the ambition that had driven the organization and the solid foundation laid for future growth.
He added that personal considerations have drawn him back toward his family, and that several European clubs have expressed interest in his services, prompting his decision to seek a new chapter closer to home.
The Saudi Pro League issued its own farewell message, thanking Emenalo for his contributions and wishing him success in the next phase of his career.
