Retired NASCAR champion Michael Waltrip has opened a new taproom in Cornelius, North Carolina, bringing his craft beers and racing memorabilia under one roof.
A Brewing Legacy Meets Racing Culture
The Michael Waltrip Signature Bar occupies space at Eleven Lakes Brewing, a local brewery that now hosts the former driver’s flagship venue. Visitors can sample limited‑edition brews such as Talladega Light lager and Bristol Sunshine Tangerine Ale while browsing a collection of Waltrip’s racing helmets, trophies and vintage posters.
The Cornelius location marks the fourth signature bar for Michael Waltrip Brewing Co., following earlier outlets in Bristol, Clarksville and Nashville. The company recently shuttered its Concord taproom and sold its Mooresville site, signaling a strategic refocus on markets with strong fan engagement.
Local Reception and Market Outlook
Waltrip expressed enthusiasm about sharing his brews with locals and NASCAR fans alike, noting that the new space blends the excitement of the track with the relaxed atmosphere of a neighborhood pub. While the brand has not announced plans for additional Charlotte‑area locations, it remains open to expanding wherever demand warrants.
