A Transatlantic Test for Michigan Basketball
The Wolverines will depart for a nine‑day exhibition tour that begins on August 21 and concludes on August 29, taking them across the Baltic and into the heart of the Balkans.
During the swing they are slated to meet three distinct opponents: the senior Lithuanian national team on August 23, the Lithuanian B‑team a day later, and Serbia’s Mega Superbet on August 27.
Coach Dusty May has framed the journey as more than a series of matches; he sees it as a vital opportunity for team bonding, tactical experimentation and the accumulation of high‑level experience before the regular season.
The trip also grants the program an additional ten preseason practice sessions, a benefit that May says will accelerate the implementation of new offensive concepts and defensive schemes.
Funding for the overseas itinerary comes from private supporters channeled through the Michigan athletic development department, underscoring the role of donor contributions in expanding the team’s competitive calendar.
This marks the first foreign tour for the Wolverines since 2022, a year in which they previously traveled to France and Greece, making the upcoming schedule a notable milestone in the program’s recent history.
