Michigan’s men’s basketball program announced that two of its newest scholarship recipients have inked multi‑year agreements, locking in freshmen Lincoln Cosby and Joseph Hartman for the upcoming seasons.
Reclassification and Injury Setbacks
Cosby entered the 2026 class as a top‑10 recruit, having re‑classified from the 2027 cohort. He spent his senior year at Montverde Academy Prep School in Florida, where he also competed in the Overtime Elite showcase. A torn ACL curtailed his high‑school campaign, but his 6‑foot‑9 frame and 7‑foot‑2 wingspan give him a rare blend of size and agility.
Hartman, a four‑star prospect, concluded his prep career at The Rock School in Florida. Coaches project him as a combo guard whose perimeter shooting and playmaking could add depth to the backcourt.
Building Around Size and Skill
Both players acknowledge that their roles will be shaped by health recovery and tactical needs, yet each has publicly pledged to remain with the Wolverines for the foreseeable future.
The commitments come as the program leans on a recruiting class that also includes prospects such as Trey McKenney, Elliot Cadeau, J.P. Estrella, Moustapha Thiam, Brandon McCoy, Mike Boynton Jr. and Yaxel Lendeborg, creating a deep pool of talent to develop around Cosby and Hartman.
With the new contracts in place, the coaching staff can plan a roster that blends veteran presence with the upside of these young athletes, aiming to translate size, shooting and athleticism into competitive performance next season.
