Michigan is poised to land its second commitment for the 2027 recruiting class, targeting four-star edge rusher Ifeanyi Emedobi, who will announce his college choice on Thursday at 11 a.m. Eastern time. The Wolverines have positioned themselves as a top contender for the Indiana native, who currently sits at No. 441 overall and No. 44 among edge prospects in the Rivals industry rankings.
Emedobi’s recruitment has been marked by a whirlwind of official visits. After his first trip to Ann Arbor, he accelerated his schedule and returned to Michigan a week earlier than originally planned. The visit, which was his inaugural campus experience, left a strong impression of the program’s facilities and coaching staff.
Beyond the visits, the prospect’s football résumé is still in its infancy. He is entering his second year of organized play but already earned MVP honors among defensive linemen at the Under Armour NEXT All-American Camp in Chicago, a testament to his raw upside and physical tools.
Coaches Lewis Powell and David Denham have been vocal about Emedobi’s growth potential, seeing him as a projectable pass-rusher who could develop into a cornerstone of Michigan’s defensive front. His lone season of structured competition has not limited his ascent, as analysts project a high ceiling for the young talent.
