Early Power Four Offer Highlights Spartans' Recruiting Push
Michigan State football has become the first program from the Power Four to extend a scholarship to Lawrence Kanneh, a 6‑foot‑3, 220‑pound edge rusher from Whitehall Yearling High in Columbus, Ohio.
Kanneh, who remains unranked and unrated in the 2027 recruiting class, announced the offer on social media, noting that the overture came before any national rankings were released.
The Columbus native has also attracted interest from several other schools, including Appalachian State, East Carolina, Marshall, South Florida, Akron, Kent State, Toledo and Miami (OH), but the Spartans' early move sets them apart.
Coaches at Michigan State highlighted his blend of size and pass‑rushing ability, projecting him as a potential impact player on the defensive line as the program continues to build relationships in the Midwest.
