Michigan State University’s sixth‑year offensive lineman Nick Sharpe is currently the subject of a criminal investigation after a woman from Dallas, Texas, reported a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in mid‑July.
According to the complaint, the incident took place in Sharpe’s off‑campus apartment on July 17, where the accuser says she experienced unwanted genital touching and was pressured into oral sex.
Sharpe has denied the allegations, stating that he was watching a movie when the woman entered his room and that any sexual activity was consensual, even claiming he later asked her to delete a video she had agreed to record.
University Response
Michigan State’s Athletics Department has confirmed that it is fully cooperating with local law enforcement, emphasizing that the university takes any allegation of sexual misconduct seriously and will follow due process.
Evidence Collection
Investigators seized two iPhones and a set of towels from the scene, and a DNA sample taken on July 21 was initially deemed unusable; a second swab was collected on August 4 as the inquiry progressed.
As of August 28, no charges have been filed in Michigan, but the Michigan State Police are awaiting the results of the DNA analysis from the evidence kit that was gathered in Dallas.
Sharpe, who transferred to Michigan State from South Carolina in January after four seasons at Wake Forest under coach Nick Tabacca, has been a key contributor on the offensive line and his future with the team remains uncertain pending the outcome of the case.
