Spartans Strengthen 2027‑28 Class with High‑Profile Commitments
Michigan State announced a scholarship offer to Jaydn Jenkins, a 6‑foot‑9 center from Warminster, Pennsylvania, who ranks No. 43 overall and No. 5 among centers in the 2027 class according to Rivals. The university joins a growing list of suitors that includes Villanova, Ohio State, Seton Hall, Xavier, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Georgia and Virginia Tech. Jenkins recently impressed at the Philly High School Live showcase and earned a spot in the USA Basketball men’s U18 training camp in Colorado Springs, underscoring his rising profile.
The Spartans also extended an offer to Kingston Thomas, a legacy recruit at East Lansing High School, for the 2027 class. Thomas, son of former Spartan player and current director of basketball operations David Thomas, holds additional offers from Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Old Dominion, positioning him as a potential cornerstone for the next recruiting wave.
In the 2028 cycle, Michigan State added Mateen Cleaves Jr., another legacy prospect, to its list of targets. Cleaves Jr., expected to be a high‑profile recruit, currently holds a single offer from Rutgers, making the Spartans’ early interest a notable early move.
