Michigan Tech Adds Grogan and Riley to 2026 Soccer Class

Two standout transfers bring athletic promise and academic focus to the Huskies

Michigan Tech’s women’s soccer program received a boost this week as head coach Melissa Kuhar unveiled two new signings for the 2026 roster, forward Addison Grogan and midfielder Melissa Riley.

A Strategic Boost for the Huskies

Grogan arrives from Sherwood, Arkansas, where she starred for Arkansas Rising in the Elite Clubs National League. The Arkansas native earned All‑Arkansas Prep honors and was selected to the 5A All‑State team in 2024, following a 2023 season that landed her on the 6A All‑Conference squad. Beyond athletics, Grogan maintains a spot in the National Honor Society and recently received an Award of Excellence, underscoring her commitment to academics.

Riley, a midfielder from Lincoln, United Kingdom, spent the previous season at Neosho County Community College in Missouri. She featured in 15 matches, starting 12 and logging 148 minutes, during which she contributed three goals and six assists for a total of 12 points. Her performances earned her a place on the KJCCC All‑Conference Second Team.

Coach Kuhar highlighted the complementary skill sets of the newcomers, noting Grogan’s energy, speed and stamina, paired with Riley’s technical vision and game intelligence. Both players have indicated that Michigan Tech’s strong engineering reputation and hands‑on learning environment were decisive factors in their decision.

The coaching staff anticipates that the additions will deepen depth and inject fresh competitiveness into the squad as the program looks ahead to the upcoming season, with both athletes eager to blend their athletic ambitions with the university’s renowned academic offerings.

Riley also expressed excitement about studying in a region surrounded by natural beauty, citing the opportunity to hike the Upper Peninsula’s trails as a personal draw.
