On July 2, the University of Michigan unveiled its 2026 men's soccer signing class, confirming a cohort of eleven newcomers that includes seven freshmen and four transfer athletes. The announcement marks a strategic push to deepen the program's talent reservoir ahead of the upcoming season.
Head coach Chaka Daley praised the incoming group, emphasizing the blend of character and technical ability that he believes will elevate the program's competitiveness. "These players bring a mix of proven winners and hungry newcomers, and I’m excited to see how they’ll shape our identity on the field," Daley said in the release.
Among the freshmen, defender Sebasthian Chavez arrives from the New York Red Bulls Academy, where he contributed to a Red Bull New York II side that captured the MLS Next Pro Cup in 2025. His defensive discipline and aerial presence are expected to reinforce the back line.
Defender Andrew Craig, a product of the Philadelphia Union Academy, captained the U18 side and helped the team win the 2026 Dallas Cup Under‑19 Gordon Jago Super Group. Craig’s leadership experience and versatility make him a valuable asset for Michigan’s defensive schemes.
Versatile defender Camron Estala, also from Real Salt Lake Academy, brings international experience after representing U.S. Youth National Teams. His adaptability across positions could provide the Wolverines with tactical flexibility.

Attacking midfielder Thomas Fraser, who honed his game at Champlain College Saint‑Lambert, was named Champlain Male Athlete of the Year for the 2025‑26 season. His blend of creativity and work rate aligns with Michigan’s offensive philosophy.
Forward Alex Gimple earned a MLS NEXT Cup Champions title with Columbus Crew Academy in 2025‑26, while midfielder Landon Strohmeyer from Colorado Rapids Academy reached the Generation Adidas Cup final. Both players bring proven winning mentalities.
Midfielder Austin Su made his senior debut with Columbus Crew II in 2024, adding professional exposure to his résumé. Defender Kian Concepcion transferred from Austin FC Academy after a season at UCLA, and Nico Pendleton, an attacking player from Sporting KC Academy, was crowned Kansas Gatorade High School Player of the Year.
The class also features midfielder Michael Haikal from Bentley University, a United Soccer Coaches Division II National Scholar Player of the Year, and Stefan Momcilovic from Barry University, a recent All‑South Region and All‑SSC Conference honoree.
