Michigan Wolverines football announced a historic leadership overhaul for the 2026 season, naming four captains and a 17‑member council that will shape spring and fall camp under head coach Kyle Whittingham.
A New Leadership Model
Rod Moore, a graduate defensive back, becomes only the second modern‑era captain in school history and the first to serve a second term, while sophomore quarterback Bryce Underwood makes history as the first sophomore to hold the role.
The captains will be joined by 12 additional players on the leadership council, a group that reflects the broader shift toward inclusive decision‑making as voting rights move beyond seniors to the entire roster.
Head coach Kyle Whittingham will oversee the elections and the council’s formation for both spring and fall preparations, signaling a coordinated approach to building team chemistry ahead of the upcoming campaign.
