The Michigan Wolverines opened their season with a setback as three key starters—Hogan Hansen, Andrew Babalola and Carter Meadows—were sidelined by injuries, leaving the team thin early in the Week 1 matchup.
Coach Whittingham Plans Full Integration for Week 2
Coach Kyle Whittingham said he is prioritizing the integration of Hansen, Meadows and Babalola back into practice for the upcoming Week 2 showdown against Oklahoma, expressing confidence that the three will be ready to return to the field soon.
Safety Rod Moore made his comeback after missing the previous two seasons following an ACL tear in spring 2024, while Utah transfer edge rusher John Henry Daley debuted for Michigan after a ruptured Achilles tendon ended his college career at Utah.
Both Moore and Daley logged significant playing time despite not being fully recovered; Daley recorded 51 snaps in his debut, reflecting the heavy workload required as he continued his recovery, and the pair contributed positively to the team's performance.
With the trio of injured starters expected to rejoin the roster before the Oklahoma game, Whittingham’s optimism suggests the Wolverines could be close to full strength for the next contest, while Moore and Daley will continue to be monitored as they regain full athletic capacity.
