A Competitive Landscape
The University of Michigan continues to build momentum in its 2027 recruiting class, having already locked in commitments from quarterbacks Quentin Burrell, defensive backs Tyson Robinson and Xavier Muhammad. The Wolverines now turn their attention to five‑star cornerback Joshua Dobson and three‑star wide receiver Tre Britton III, both of whom are considering official visits as they evaluate their college options.
Dobson, ranked No. 3 among cornerbacks and No. 9 overall in the 2027 Rivals industry ranking, is the son of an educator and plans to major in business. He values a family‑like environment, player development and the chance to win, and he has spoken highly of Michigan’s coaching staff. Although his official visit schedule is currently full, he is open to swapping one of his existing trips for an official visit to Ann Arbor.
Tre Britton III, a Belleville native, holds three official visits lined up: Miami, Missouri and Michigan. The in‑state prospect is drawn to Michigan’s proximity to home and the relationships he has forged with the staff. He also admires the program’s track record in developing receivers, and he intends to make his final decision shortly after his Michigan visit.
Beyond Dobson and Britton, the Wolverines are also courting other notable prospects such as Jernaro Gilford, Ethan McDowell, Malachi Toney and Jacob Peeler. The recruitment effort is supported by position coaches Chip Lindsey and Eli Drinkwitz, as well as recruiting analyst Allen Trieu, who help shape the team’s strategy across the board.
