Seton Hall University announced the addition of Mihailo Petrovic, a 23‑year‑old guard from Serbia, as a transfer from the University of Illinois. Petrovic arrives with a reputation for professionalism and a calm presence that coaches value in the locker room.
International Experience and League Success
Before arriving in the United States, Petrovic represented Serbia at the Under‑16 and Under‑20 levels and earned caps with the senior national team during the qualifying campaign for the 2025 European Championships. In the Adriatic League he posted averages of 14.2 points and 7.3 assists, numbers that caught the attention of Seton Hall’s coaching staff.
At Illinois, Petrovic was primarily a reserve, seeing limited minutes but still contributing 1.6 points and 1.1 assists per game over 5.7 minutes of play. Despite modest statistical output, his professionalism and ability to mentor younger teammates were highlighted by head coach Shaheen Holloway.
Holloway, who has emphasized the need for reliable playmaking depth, sees Petrovic as a strategic piece to stabilize the point‑guard position. The guard’s two years of remaining eligibility also provide the program with a multi‑year window to develop chemistry and evaluate long‑term fit.
Petrovic’s integration reflects Seton Hall’s broader strategy of augmenting talent through transfers that bring both skill and cultural diversity. The university’s athletic department, in partnership with the University of Illinois, expressed optimism that the new roster composition will enhance competitiveness in upcoming conference play.
