Mike Boynton Jr. has emerged as the leading candidate to become the permanent head coach of the University of Michigan basketball program after the sudden departure of Dusty May.
Boynton’s résumé includes a six‑year tenure as head coach at Oklahoma State University, where he posted a 119‑109 record and famously recruited and developed star forward Cade Cunningham.
A Strategy of Continuity
In his first season on May’s staff as defensive coordinator, Boynton helped the Wolverines climb to the nation’s top defensive ranking for two consecutive years, underscoring his tactical acumen.
