A Humble Beginning
Mike Lichtfeld never imagined he would spend his weekends behind a steering wheel. Growing up in Wisconsin, his sporting interests leaned toward basketball, football and track, where he chased the thrill of competition on fields and courts.
The shift to racing began after high school, when the same competitive hunger found a new outlet on the asphalt of Dells Raceway Park. What started as a personal challenge soon evolved into a disciplined pursuit that would define his professional trajectory.
Family at the Core
Lichtfeld’s racing story is inseparable from his family. His father, Tom Lichtfeld, once raced at the same short track, instilling a work ethic that values frugality and determination. Today, Tom and Mike’s brother Steve work side by side in both the family plumbing and septic installation business and the team’s race shop.
The trio’s collaboration extends beyond the garage. While Mike pilots the cars, Tom and Steve handle sponsorship logistics, mechanical prep and the day‑to‑day operations that keep the team running smoothly.
Their shared commitment has translated into tangible results on the track. Lichtfeld captured multiple Late Model championships at Dells, earned the Midwest Regional Rookie of the Year award in the NASCAR Local Racing Series, and now sits seventh in the series’ Midwest standings while leading the Wisconsin state rankings.
Chasing the Charlotte Banquet
This season, Lichtfeld’s primary objective is to secure a spot at the NASCAR banquet in Charlotte, a milestone he regards as the culmination of consistent performance and humility. He stresses that steady progress, rather than occasional brilliance, is the cornerstone of his strategy.
Recent results reflect that philosophy: two victories and five top‑five finishes in six starts at Dells, plus a win and three top‑ten finishes in three outings at LaCrosse. Those numbers, he says, are a testament to the team’s methodical approach.
Beyond the trophies, Lichtfeld feels a deep connection to Dells Raceway Park, the very venue where his father once competed. Honoring that legacy drives him to approach each race with respect for the sport’s history and his family’s modest beginnings.
