Preseason Camp Kicks Off
Florida State Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell addressed the media on Monday, offering the first comprehensive injury update of the preseason camp as the team prepares to hit the practice field on Wednesday.
Among those spoken about were sophomore wide receiver Jayvan Boggs and redshirt senior linebacker Mikai Gbayor, both of whom missed significant time during the spring. Norvell emphasized that both players are moving forward well and have a clear pathway to be ready for the opening game.
Redshirt senior defensive lineman Jordan Sanders, who missed the entirety of the spring, is now fully cleared and expected to be ready for action when the season begins.
Freshman defensive end Cam Brooks suffered an injury during winter workouts and will be limited in the early part of the season, but the coaching staff remains optimistic about his long‑term availability.
Freshman linebacker Izayia Williams, whose senior season was cut short by a knee injury, has been fully cleared and is expected to contribute immediately.
Junior linebacker Chris Thomas, who transferred after a junior‑college knee injury, is making solid progress in his development and could see increased snaps as the roster settles.
Season Opener Countdown
The Seminoles open the regular season in 33 days, hosting New Mexico State on Saturday, August 29 at 7 p.m. The countdown adds a sense of urgency to the final preparations, with the coaching staff focused on building chemistry and executing the game plan.
