A Strategic Addition to the Huskies' Coaching Staff
Mike Pegues, a former assistant coach at Louisville and Butler, has officially joined the University of Connecticut men's basketball team as an assistant coach, filling the vacancy left by Luke Murray, who departed for Boston College.
Pegues brings a reputation for identifying and developing interior talent, a skill set that aligns with UConn's plan to integrate three fresh big men into the roster for the upcoming season.
His recruiting network stretches across the D.C./Maryland/Virginia corridor, a region that has consistently produced high‑level prospects, and his track record of polishing post players is expected to accelerate the growth of the new frontcourt additions.
Beyond his on‑court duties, Pegues is celebrated for his formative years at DeMatha Catholic, where he was the school's all‑time leading scorer, and for his collegiate playing days at the University of Delaware, where he amassed over 2,000 points.
The coaching staff remains anchored by associate head coach Kimani Young and the newly tenured assistant Mike Nardi, while head coach Dan Hurley continues to shape the team's competitive identity.
