A Dual Path of Coaching and Classroom
Mike White, the former quarterback who once dominated Section 9 with a record‑breaking 7,836 career passing yards and 77 touchdowns, has taken on a new role as an offensive assistant coach at Washingtonville High School.
The move comes as White simultaneously pursues a career in education, aiming to become a business teacher, a path that still requires approval from the school board.
Having spent nearly a decade in sales, White says the analytical mindset he honed in the corporate world dovetails with the strategic demands of football, and he has long entertained the idea of giving back to the sport that shaped his youth.
White credits much of his coaching inspiration to his mentorship of Dan Twomey, a fellow quarterback, and to the guidance he received from Cornwall football coach Kevin Arduino, who also helped him navigate the teaching certification process.
Arduino, who believes White will be a valuable addition to the section, notes that White’s blend of experience and skill set positions him to help Washingtonville become a contender in the league.
