Milam's Return Bolsters LSU's 2027 Squad
Steven Milam, a standout shortstop for LSU, has decided to return for his senior year in 2027, passing up a potential MLB career. His .939 OPS in 2026 and .308 average in SEC play underscore his value.
Joining him will be transfers Cade Kurland, who helped Florida reach the College World Series final in 2023, and Dawson Park, who posted a .962 OPS and hit 13 home runs in his first year as a starting shortstop. The coaching staff, led by Jay Johnson, hopes the new middle‑infield pieces will stabilize the lineup.
New Transfers Add Depth
Cade Arrambide and Mason Braun are also expected to contribute, while Bino Watters, the Notre Dame outfielder, arrives from the transfer portal after hitting .362 with a 1.057 OPS as a sophomore. Derek Curiel, Jake Brown, and Chris Stanfield round out a deep group of prospects.
Veteran Michael Braswell and utility player Omar Serna are slated to provide depth, and the roster will rely on 13 high school recruits who appear in MLB.com's top‑200 prospect rankings.
The MLB draft is scheduled for July 11‑12, a deadline that will shape the final roster decisions as the Tigers aim to rebuild after a challenging season.
