Millis and Norfolk Aggie Join Forces in New Football Co‑Op
Millis will serve as the host school for a new two‑year football co‑op with Norfolk Aggie, a move designed to arrest a steady decline in roster numbers that has threatened the program’s future.
The arrangement also opens a pathway for sub‑varsity athletes, giving younger players a chance to train and compete at a higher level while the program rebuilds its depth.
The combined squad is slated to make its debut on September 12 against Blackstone‑Millville, marking the first official game of the partnership and setting the stage for a full season of competition.
Millis boasts a storied football tradition, having captured five Super Bowl titles; the most recent championships came in 2017 and 2016 as part of a co‑op with Hopedale, a legacy the new partnership hopes to extend.
This co‑op represents the second Tri‑Valley League collaboration formed this year, underscoring a broader effort among member schools to sustain competitive football across the region.
Derek Phinney, a longtime coach in the area, praised the collaboration as a pragmatic solution that preserves the sport’s community roots.
