The Miners girls soccer team is set to begin its campaign on Tuesday, traveling to face 6A powerhouse Lone Peak at 3:30 p.m. The match marks the first test for Coach Anthony DiCicco’s squad, which finished the previous season as a 4A state title runner‑up and posted back‑to‑back winning records of 15‑4 and 17‑4.
A Fresh Start for the Miners
DiCicco has praised the team’s momentum built during the Park City U17 Cup, where they fell to an Idaho side in the final but used the experience to sharpen their tactics. The coach highlighted the blend of youthful talent and seasoned juniors who are now stepping into larger roles.
Among those juniors, midfielder Stella Arend and goalkeeper Brooklyn Mascardo have emerged as key figures. Both players previously earned varsity minutes as sophomores and have spoken openly about the importance of team bonding and the goal of contending for the 4A championship in October.
The schedule also includes a home opener against rival Wasatch at Quinn’s Junction on Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by a senior night celebration at the newly renovated Dozier Field in late September. That event will honor the graduating players while showcasing the upgraded facilities that have attracted college programs such as Weber State and UVU for training sessions.
