Minnesota Secures Two More Commitments, Extends Nation-Leading 2027 Class

Texas receiver Kevin Ferrygood and Iowa lineman Drake Buthe choose the Gophers, boosting the class to 25 pledges

Commitments Roll In

Sunday evening brought a wave of excitement to Minneapolis as the Golden Gophers welcomed two new members to their 2027 recruiting class, raising the total to a nation‑leading 25 commitments.

Kevin Ferrygood, a three‑star receiver out of Cy‑Fair High School in Texas, announced his decision to join Minnesota over offers from Oklahoma State, Texas Christian and several smaller programs. In his senior season he recorded 51 receptions for 863 yards and seven touchdowns, numbers that helped seal his choice.

Drake Buthe, an Iowa three‑star offensive lineman and state wrestling medalist in the heavyweight division, also pledged to the Gophers. He turned down interest from Central Florida, Western Michigan and the United States Military Academy to commit to Minnesota.

A Class Leading the Nation

The influx of talent reflects a recruiting surge that has placed Minnesota at the forefront of the 2027 class nationwide. With 25 pledges already secured, the program is positioned to build on recent successes and contend for top rankings in the coming years.

Both recruits bring a blend of size, athleticism and versatility that coaches say will enrich the team's offensive schemes. Their decisions underscore the growing appeal of the Gophers' program among top prospects across the country.
