Minnesota United and Vancouver Whitecaps played to a scoreless draw at Allianz Field on Tuesday night, a result that snapped a six‑match winless streak for the Loons.
A tactical shift pays off
Coach Cameron Knowles praised his side’s defensive organization, noting that the team limited the league‑leading Whitecaps to few clear chances despite the absence of a goal.
The Loons started with both Kelvin Yeboah and Momo Dieng up front, a pairing that produced four shots from Dieng, three of them on target, and forced the Whitecaps’ back line to work harder.
Dieng’s expected goals (xG) of 0.4 outpaced Yeboah’s 0.1, underscoring his more threatening movements, even though he remains without a goal in MLS play.
The striker was substituted in the 68th minute, but after the match he expressed confidence that his first MLS goal is imminent.
Looking ahead
With the defensive unit gaining cohesion, Minnesota United will look to convert the improved attacking rhythm into points in upcoming fixtures against Hartford Athletic and LAFC.
