Mississippi State University is shaping its 2027 baseball roster by tapping the transfer portal, a move that comes as the window closes on June 30.
The program has already secured 15 transfers for the upcoming season, five of whom previously played under head coach Brian O'Connor at Virginia, highlighting the coach's expanding network.
Among the newcomers is Brady Christman, the 2026 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year who starred for Georgia Southern before committing to Mississippi State on June 6. Christman hit .384 with 12 home runs, 44 RBIs and 41 runs scored last year.
Departures and Roster Turnover
Andrew Raymond, who appeared in 22 games as a backup catcher, entered the portal on June 3 after posting a .348 average with two homers and nine RBIs. Patrick Spencer Jr., a transfer from Pearl River Community College who did not see game action this season, announced his portal entry on May 26.
These moves reflect a dynamic reshaping of the squad, blending fresh talent with experienced departures as the team looks to build on its recent success in the Athens Super Regional.
